message from Tony Clunis:
Me and the girls were at the Pembroke Olde Time Dance and Fiddle Contest
and here is a blurb published in -The News- Thursday, September 2, 2010.
-When you are buying it, it's a fiddle. When you are selling it, it's a
violin.
-What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle? About $10,000.
-The difference is in the nut that holds the bow.
-The violin sings, the fiddle dances.
-A fiddle is a violin with attitude.
-No one cries when they spill beer on a fiddle. (my favourite)
-The difference between a violinist and a fiddle player is $100 a night,
and a tux.
-A violin is caried in a violin case, a fiddle is carried in a gunny-sack.

Laurent C. Judith Ginsburg, Rosemarie Klimasko, Maria-Sophia P.
Laurent C. and Maria-Sophia P., two violin members of the OSS Performance Group, Stellae Boreales,
were chosen by the Gryphon Trio, through audition, to perform at the prestigious "RISING STARS" Concert
held at St. Brigid's Centre for the Arts on July 24th. 2010.
Maria Sophia played a lovely, graceful reading of "Liebeslied" by Kreisler and and Laurent gave a technically
dazzling, superb performance of the "Caprice Basque" by Sarasate. Their accompanist, Judith Ginsburg again
joined these two young artists, after the intermission, in a beautiful, sentimental reading of the" Romance" for two
violins from "The Gadfly" by Shostakovich.
Violin teachers Elaine Klimasko (Laurent) and Rosemarie Klimasko (Maria-Sophia) are extremely proud of the
"personal excellence" achieved by their two students.

All participants in the RISING STARS Concert take a final bow.
Congratulation to all these fine young artists!
Amanda, a student of Kit Barham, enjoyed the opportunity to begin the YSPF concert on March 21, 2010 with her performance of "Two Blues" by Jean Ethridge. Amanda, accompanied by Judy Ginsberg and coached by Rosemarie Klimasko, was one of many young musicians who provided a memorable performance to those who attended the Glebe - St. James United Church concert.
The second picture is of Rosemarie and Amanda sharing a moment.
